The Last Bench Friend

Ayan was a quiet boy. He always sat on the last bench in class. He didn’t talk much, and no one really noticed him. Everyone thought he was just “the boring guy.”

One day, a new student came. His name was Bilal. He was also given the last bench — next to Ayan. Unlike Ayan, Bilal was friendly and full of energy. At first, he didn’t understand why Ayan never spoke. But slowly, he started talking to him every day.

Weeks passed, and a strange friendship began. Bilal would share his lunch, laugh at small jokes, and tell Ayan stories. Ayan started to smile more. He laughed, for the first time in years. Bilal never asked about Ayan’s past — he just stayed by his side.

One day, Ayan shared his secret.

My parents died in an accident two years ago. Since then, I stopped talking to people. I thought no one would care.”

Bilal looked at him and said, “Maybe others didn’t care. But I do. And I always will.”

That one sentence changed Ayan’s life.

He started opening up. He started drawing again, something he loved but had stopped. He joined school competitions. People began to notice him — but most of all, he noticed himself.

All because of a last bench friend.

Moral of the Story

One kind person can change someone’s whole world.
